Maternity grant for adopting mother

From 10 February 1995, an insured women or wife of an insured man, who adopted a child up to the age of 10, is entitled to a maternity grant at the same rate as that paid to women who have given birth. This provides adopting mothers with the same benefits as those of mothers who give birth.

Previous to this change, there had been an arrangement where the adopting mother received vacation pay on the same conditions and at the same rate as the maternity allowance received by working women who gave birth.
