Securing social stability and economic development
The global financial and economic crisis has reaffirmed the key contribution of social security to social stability and economic recovery. The World Social Security Forum took place in Cape Town, South Africa, 29 November - 4 December 2010. This unique global event gathered over one thousand leaders and administrators of social security institutions, policy-makers, representatives of international organizations and social policy experts from more than 100 countries.
The World Social Security Forum and the 30th ISSA General Assembly was hosted by the
Department of Social Development of the Republic of South Africa, and offered participants an exclusive opportunity to share knowledge, recognize good practices and discuss key challenges and innovative strategies for Dynamic Social Security.

Films from Brazil, Switzerland and the UK have been awarded prizes in the 8th International Film and Multimedia Festival, during a ceremony at the World Congress on Safety and Health at Work, in Istanbul, Turkey, on 14 September 2011. Multimedia productions from Germany, Sweden and Mexico also received prizes.

Investment in safety and health in enterprises has a direct and measurable cost-benefit potential, according to a new study that the International Social Security Association (ISSA) will present to an audience of experts and policy-makers, at the World Congress on Safety and Health at Work, in Istanbul on 12 September.
