The Multimedia Festival attracted 57 multimedia products from 18 countries worldwide. The conference delegates were invited to assess the products in the multimedia corner, while the applicants could present their products in the Multimedia Presentation Room.
An international jury from 6 different countries evaluated the products taking into account the following criteria:
The jury evaluated different kinds of multimedia products such as computer based training programs, web based training programs and portal sites. Products addressed various topics and target groups such as sme’s, young workers and different sectors and professions.
The jury was particularly pleased with the high quality of the applications and had a difficult job in selecting the award winners. A consensus was reached on the following applications:
Small business WorkSafe Safety Calculator , Worker’s Compensation Board of British Columbia, Canada.
The Safety Calculator is intended for small business owners to help them better understand all the costs associated with workplace injuries.
The jury unanimously agreed on the excellent use of the multimedia possibilities of this application making it an appropriate source and informative means for small and medium sized enterprises.
Simulacion de Prevencion de Riesgos, Asepeyo , Spain.
The simulator for decisions on risk prevention is an efficient tool, demonstrating that prevention is just another element in the day-to-day management of a business.
The jury was impressed by the ease with which such a complex topic has been approached and processed, making it an accessible tool to a professional audience.
Health and Safety 101, Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB), Ontario, Canada.
Health and Safety 101 is an innovative, interactive web-based e-course developed by the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) in Ontario, to provide workers 24 years old and younger with important health and safety information.
The jury congratulated the creative team, which developed an attractive, useful and innovative tool fully adapted to the young target audience.
Hazard Prevention and Control in the Work Environment: Airborne Dust, National Institute for Working Life (NIWL) , Sweden.
The jury mentioned also the Swedish application “Hazard Prevention and Control in the Work Environment: Airborne Dust” for its extensive and high quality source of video and text material for trainers and other intermediaries.
