A comprehensive social security system seeks to protect every member of society from avoidable risks irrespective of income and socio-economic status. The extension of social security coverage is high on the agenda of social security institutions throughout Southern Africa with the focus on seeking the best ways forward in providing better protection for the populations.

Social security institutions have high potential and unique opportunities to work towards the extension of coverage and they are key actors in national extension strategies. This Technical Seminar is therefore being organized in order to share experiences, with a view to identifying innovative and successful approaches adopted, as well as the lessons learnt in the process.
