The presentations promoted good OSH practices for high risk sectors in order to improve the safety and the health of workers and to strengthen the economic performance of industry to withstand the threads of financial and economical crisis.
The main focus has been laid on successful strategies in European and ASEAN countries, designed or useful for the transfer of the Seoul Declaration, which has been ratified on the occasion of the XVIII World Congress on Safety and Health at Work 2008 in Seoul, South Korea, into active OSH practices. Incidents and accidents reporting systems on the national and on the company level as a basis of effectively designed prevention programs have been discussed as well as OSH management systems and targeted programs for specific safety and health risks, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises.

The Seoul Declaration on Safety and Health at Work
Recognizing that the Seoul Declaration serves as a platform for commitments by many countries, particularly ASEAN member countries in promoting safety and health at work,
Realizing the need for further actions at both the national level and the regional level in this field to implement measures outlined in the Seoul Declaration in prevention, risk management and social security through completing national policies, managing risks and promoting social security, particularly in the mining industry,
Recognizing that accident insurance, accident preventive strategy and risk
management strategy will contribute to the implementation of safety net and social
security strategy,
The Conference Recommends
1. Collect and share information about accident insurance and reporting, occupational safety and health, labour inspection and other preventive measures and undertake comparative studies in the field,
2. Strengthen networks of experts in safety and health at work at the enterprise, national and regional levels to promote prevention, risk management and social security,
3. Promote and apply ILO Promotional Framework for OSH Convention (No 187, 2006), ILO guidelines on OSH Management Systems and other key ILO OSH instruments.
4. Intensify, in cooperation with ISSA and ILO the dialogue between ASEAN and the EU, Japan and other donor countries on occupational accident and disease preventive measures and insurance,
5. Promote the principles enshrined in the Seoul Declaration to enterprises as well as countries and the region as a whole,
6. Share OSH information and good practices through ASEAN-OSHNET, report them to the ASEAN Senior Labour Officials' Meeting and the ASEAN Labour Ministers' Meeting and incorporate prevention, risk management and social security in ASEAN plans of action.
