Workshop "Occupational Health Service in Germany", September 21 2010 at the BAuA Dortmund, Germany

In the course of the MATRA project "Improvement in quality of external occupational health and safety services (MAT 08/TR/9/2)", a group of OSH experts from the Turkish Ministry of Labour and Social Security visited the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA) in Dortmund for a study trip. The aim of this project is a situation analysis and to introduce clear and transparent regulations and policies on OSH services (internal and external) in Turkey. Turkish experts compared the Turkish with the German OSH situation.

From 20th to 22th September 2010 the Turkish delegation attended the workshop "Occupational Health Service in Germany".

The workshop’s agenda covered the OHS services of the German Social Accident Insurance Institution for the Raw Materials and Chemical Industry (BG RCI). Martin Böttcher, head of BG RCI’s prevention district Langenhagen reported on these items:

  1. OHS example I: Employer model of the BG RCI
  2. Training of Safety Specialist and Designated Worker
  3. Surveillance of OHS - Role of Inspection System(s)

The delegates were very interested in the training of work safety experts. The next great challenge in Turkey is to design a nationwide system, that would be able to inspect and advise all SME´s all over the country.
