Alumnus of German mining university receives academic award by ISSA Mining

International Section of the ISSA on Prevention in the Mining Industry

Jörg Blaschke, alumnus of German mining university "Technische Fachhochschule (TFH) Georg Agricola", State-Approved Private University of Applied Sciences, is the first time receiver of ISSA Mining's academic award of occupational safety and health. Blaschke received his award for his thesis "Implementation of a health management system on-site of a global machine supplier".

With its award, worth 1,000 Euros, ISSA Mining recognizes outstanding academic work on occupational safety and health. The awarding ceremony took place at TFH April 29, 2011. While analyzing the implementation of a health management system with German producer AKER Wirth GmbH, Blaschke derived specific measures for prevention and health promotion, particularly taking into consideration aspects of globalization and demographic change, today's challenges for corporate health protection. "First and foremost, we value the direct application of practical aspects, as opposed to a plain theoretical academic approach", commented Dr Günter Levin, Technical Secretary of ISSA Mining.
