To better serve the diverse needs and priorities of the Association’s membership, structures are being developed to ensure the successful targeting and delivery of ISSA’s programme at the regional level by providing an optimum response to the priorities and challenges specific to the various regions/subregions.
In September 2007, ISSA member organizations from Europe agreed to establish a regional network to enhance and develop ISSA activities in Europe and contribute to the implementation of the work plan in the region. The ISSA European Network was launched in 2008.
The principal task of the ISSA European Network (IEN) is to enhance and increase the number and scope of activities in the region. The main method is through the organization of small-scale, focused technical seminars with the two-fold goal of contributing to the priority outcomes of the Association and providing platforms for in-depth knowledge-sharing on major issues facing countries in the region.
Each region/subregion which has adopted the new regional structure has established its own workplan formulated by a Steering Committee in close cooperation with the ISSA General Secretariat. The Steering Committee of the ISSA European Network comprises six persons from ISSA member organizations in the region.
